Administrative Assistant

Position summary

Allele Diagnostics is looking for a responsible, detail-oriented individual to function as an Administrative Assistant to perform a variety of duties in a rapidly expanding company with a fast-paced environment. Administrative assistant duties will include: general office administrative support, general customer service duties and client account support, support marketing efforts, support of finance processes, and receiving and sending shipments. The ideal candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills and should be highly organized and able to manage multiple projects at once. A strong candidate has the opportunity to become an integral part of a thriving healthcare company with the potential for advancement opportunities and specialization within their areas of interest as the company grows.

Responsibilities

  • General office administrative support: monitoring shared email accounts, sending and receiving faxes and documents through online systems, scheduling meetings.
  • General customer service duties: answering phones, communicating with customers via email, working with customers on outstanding requests.
  • Client account support: assisting with updates to client accounts and account database maintenance.
  • Work effectively in a team setting and assist in other departments as needed.
  • Support marketing efforts: supporting conference registration activities, assist in creation of some documents, support posting to social media accounts.
  • Support of finance processes: preparing reports, reconciliation of expenses vs. costs.
  • Receiving and sending shipments.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills including ability to multi-task in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as statistics, fractions, percentages, etc.
  • Aptitude for interpreting instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format.
  • Familiarity with social media formats.
  • 2-5 years work experience ideal.
  • Experience with MS Office suite; experience with Excel is a plus.
  • Familiarity with clinical environments/human sciences a plus.
  • High School degree; Bachelor's degree in business or sciences is a plus but not required.

Clinical Lab Associate

Position summary

We are seeking to add a Clinical Laboratory Associate to our scientific team. The role of the CLA is to perform tests that require a complex network of steps and variables, independent judgment and interpretation. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of molecular and/or cytogenetic techniques and basic laboratory skills. The CLA will work effectively in a team setting, adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, including proper documentation and adherence to all laboratory protocols and procedures, and exhibit ethical behavior, maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tests that require a complex network of steps and variables, independent judgment and interpretation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of molecular and/or cytogenetic techniques.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic laboratory skills, equipment startup, daily maintenance and shutdown.
  • Work effectively in a team setting and assist in other departments as needed.
  • Adhere to the laboratory’s Quality Control policies, including proper documentation and adherence to all laboratory protocols and procedures.
  • Exhibit ethical behavior and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Become knowledgeable of and comply with all company policies and practices.
  • Attend mandatory programs and laboratory staff meetings.
  • Acquire 6-12 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) per year by attending or giving presentations covering a variety of topics relevant to Allele Diagnostics.
  • Be able to adapt to new and changing roles, responsibilities, demands, and technologies.
  • Independently recognize non-standard situations, notify supervisor and, if applicable, document all corrective actions taken when test systems or processes deviate from the laboratory’s established specifications and/or protocols.
  • Anticipate and prevent problems independently by taking corrective actions before crises occur; take appropriate steps to resolve.
  • Actively participate in department-specific improvement plans.
  • Demonstrate effective communication between other departments.
  • Be able to establish workload priorities in order to ensure maximum workflow efficiency.
  • Recognize and respond to opportunities to improve the quality and efficiency of service.
  • Monitor inventory requirements and take appropriate action.
  • Participate in accrediting agency surveys; perform proficiency testing in the same manner as patient samples and participate in follow up to resolve any inaccurate results.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate Degree in a Chemistry, Physics, or Biology based science.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as statistics, fractions, percentages, ratios, etc.
  • Aptitude for interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule.
  • Competency with computers and Microsoft Office programs, such as Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work extended hours as business needs dictate.

Laboratory Director

Position summary

Allele Diagnostics is seeking an outstanding PhD or MD/PhD laboratory geneticist. The ideal candidate is ABMGG board certified in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics (LGG) or dual certified in Clinical Cytogenetics and Clinical Molecular Genetics. Newly board-certified individuals are encouraged to apply.

Major responsibilities include review and sign-out of clinical cases and development of new molecular diagnostic tests/platforms (including Next Generation sequencing). Prior training or experience in clinical chromosomal microarray and FISH testing is required. Prior training or experience in interpreting clinical whole exome sequencing or NGS panel assays is desired. Interest in developing or participating in applied research is also desired.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately review, interpret, and report microarray, FISH, cytogenetic and molecular patient results
  • Consult with healthcare professionals and clients regarding test utilization and test interpretation
  • Identify and explore new assay development, equipment, and processes
  • Troubleshoot/Solve technical issues
  • Assist with review of QA/QC or other performance parameters
  • Assist with CAP and CLIA regulatory requirements and compliance
  • Assist with staff training and/or education

Requirements

  • PhD or MD/PhD in a biological, chemical, or physical science
  • ABMGG board certified or Active Candidate Status in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics (LGG) or dual boarded in Clinical Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with variant databases
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Additional NY CQ or California licensure/eligibility preferred but not required.
